Jeffrey C. O’Brien

Jeffrey C. O’Brien is a partner with the Minneapolis, Minnesota law firm of Mansfield Tanick & Cohen, P.A. practicing in the areas of business and corporate law, real estate law, estate and business succession planning and probate law.

Mr. O’Brien’s real estate experience includes facilitation of purchases and sales of commercial and residential real estate (including short sales), commercial loan transactions, commercial leases, mortgage foreclosures, mechanics liens, formation and governance of condominium and homeowners associations, residential and commercial evictions, quiet title actions and land registrations. He is an MSBA Board Certified Real Property Specialist. He has put his experience with homeowners associations to practical use by serving as the President of his own homeowners association in Albertville, Minnesota.

Mr. O’Brien is a 2000 graduate of William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota, and is admitted to practice in the States of Minnesota and Wisconsin as well as the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota.

Mr. O’Brien has been named a Minnesota Super Lawyer “Rising Star” for 2008, 2009 and 2010 by Minnesota Law & Politics Magazine, a designation reserved for only 2.5 percent of all attorneys in Minnesota. He is a frequent lecturer on a wide variety of real estate topics including commercial leasing, real estate transactions, commercial real estate loan document preparation, evictions and fair housing laws. He is also the author of a blog called
The Business Man’s Laywer.

Gregory M. Miller

Gregory M. Miller, a 1994 graduate of William Mitchell College of Law, is a shareholder and director with Mansfield, Tanick & Cohen. Mr. Miller concentrates his practice in the areas of real estate and business development, real estate and commercial transactions and related litigation. He also has expertise in business transactions, organization selection and reorganization and landlord/tenant law.

Mr. Miller earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He experienced many of his practice areas first-hand by virtue of being raised the son of a general contractor. Summers were filled with construction trade, beginning as the crew gopher, and working though the various trades, acquiring a variety of construction trade skills. He also assisted with the maintenance and management of his family’s various residential and commercial rental properties. These experiences allow him to better understand client concerns and “real life” business problems.

Mr. Miller is licensed to practice in the States of Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Mr. Miller has significant litigation experience, having tried many cases to verdict. Jury cases have varied from modest two day trials to complex two week trials. Mr. Miller applies the lawyer’s ethic of zealous advocacy to all litigated cases and works hard for appropriate remedies for his clients.

Mr. Miller also enjoys teaching. As an adjunct faculty member, he teaches business law and financial management for a St. Paul, Minnesota seminary. He also speaks regularly at various CLEs on his practice areas. He has been married for 17 years and has five children.
